WITH roots in Iran, Ireland and, er, Middlesbrough, it’s fair to say Patrick Monahan is a good representation of modern, multi-cultural, Britain.
His heritage also gives the comedian plenty of anecdotes to play with, some of which will no doubt be in evidence when he takes to the road with his new show, Hug me I feel good.
Since Patrick started performing stand-up he has had a meteoric rise up the comedy ladder and has gone from opening-spot to headliner in an incredibly short space of time.
He got an early hand up the ladder after winning ITV talent show Take the Mike in 2001, and a decade later is a regular MC headline act at the top London and UK comedy clubs, including the prestigious Jongleurs circuit and the Comedy Store.
Last year he starred in another ITV programme, Show me the Funny, and released his first DVD, Patrick Monahan Live.
Known for his energetic story-telling technique, Monahan will be at the Junction on Wednesday, February 15. Tickets are £10 and the show starts at 8pm. Call 01223 511511 or visit www.junction.co.uk for more details or to book.
