MOST parents will be familiar with Charlie and Lola.
The brother-and-sister pair feature in the hugely popular books by Lauren Child, with a TV series have also been a hit with younger viewers.
Now they are making waves on stage with a new show, Charlie and Lola’s Best Bestest Play, that will be in Cambridge this half-term.
Charlie is seven and Lola is four. She adores her older brother and has an imaginary friend, Soren Lorenson. Find out if Lola will ever tidy her room or if Charlie will get Lola to sleep, even though she is not sleepy and will not go to bed. The Tigers want their bedtime milk, the Dancing Dogs have borrowed Lola’s pyjamas – not to mention the Ogre in the wardrobe.
The play is presented by a team of four puppeteers with specially made puppets, while the voices come direct from the TV series. Charlie and Lola themselves appear as cut-out cartoon characters in the same magical world they inhabit in the books and TV series. From music to magic tricks, from pink milk to party rings, everything you expect is there.
So if you fancy a family-friendly treat this half-term, the show runs at the Cambridge Arts Theatre from Friday February 17-Saturday February 18 and tickets are £12.50. For show times, or to book, call 01223 503333 or visit www.cambridgeartstheatre.com.
