STACIE POWELL goes into today’s semi-final at the FINA Diving World Cup knowing she has already helped Great Britain secure a second quota spot at London 2012.

Cambridge University student Powell, competing in the 10 metre platform, qualified 14th. The fact that she and team-mate Monica Gladding, who finished sixth, both finished in the top 18 means that Great Britain have a second place at the games.

The semi-finals of the World Cup, which is being held at the London Olympics Aquatic Park as part of the London Prepares series, begin at 10am.
