AFC Telford 1 - 2 Cambridge United
TOM SHAW netted the winner as Cambridge United claimed their first league away win since November by beating AFC Telford.
Shaw swivelled to beat Ryan Young with a first time effort from 12 yards in the 56th minute of Saturday’s match at the New Buck’s Head.
The U’s, with Michael Gash and Rossi Jarvis restored to the line-up at the expense of Liam Hughes and Adam Marriott, took the lead on the stroke of half-time when Kevin Roberts was left all alone to volley in Jarvis’s corner.
Telford were furious that the corner had even been given, with the referee having initially signaled for a goal kick. They equalised after the break through Chris Sharp, who guided a volley through a crowd of players.
But three minutes later Shaw found the net to give United the points.
Next up for the U’s is a home game against Tamworth. Boss Jez George will be hoping defender Josh Coulson will be fit for the match after he was withdrawn on Saturday with a leg injury.
*Supporters Trust Cambridge Fans United are holding their annual general meeting tonight. It begins at 7.30pm in the supporters club at the R Costings Abbey Stadium.
