HISTON striker Dan Holman’s fine form has been rewarded with the Blue Square Bet North player of the month award.
Holman, (pictured) who only joined the Stutes in the summer from Long Buckby, has been in hot form throughout January, netting seven goals in six games including doubles against Gloucester and Guiseley.
The 20-year-old now has 18 goals in all competitions this season, and his importance to the team has increased following last week’s departure of experienced forward Omer Riza.
Meanwhile the Stutes are hoping to discover the next Daniel Sparkes or Lewis Taaffe at academy trials being held later this month.
Since boss David Livermore took over in 2010, Histon have blooded a steady stream of academy products into their first team, while other graduates of the club’s youth system have gone on to sign for professional clubs.
Trials will take place at Hinchingbrooke School on Tuesday, February 14, starting at 6pm, and at the Glassworld Stadium on Friday, February 17, from 6pm onwards.
The trials are open to youngsters in school years five-ten, to book call 07868 757419 or email howard. willmott@histonacademyfc.co.uk
