A LATE lapse meant Histon were beaten at Gainsborough, as the hosts scored twice in the closing stages to claim the points.

The Stutes withstood heavy pressure in the first half, falling behind when veteran striker Paul Connor netted in the first half. But Dan Holman had Histon back on level terms soon after the restart.

Jim Stevenson crashed in a volley to make it 2-1 moments later, but Histon couldn’t hold on, with Connor netting his second from the penalty spot in the second half after a foul by Remy Clerima.

Then in the last minute Andrew Boyce found the net to condemn Histon to defeat. Their next match is a home fixture against Guisley on Saturday.
