A father and his five-year-old son suffered whiplash after a van went into the back of their car in Sawston, yesterday evening.
Paul Gregory was returing home with his son Artemiy when the crash happened at 5.15pm on Saturday, in Cambridge Road.
Mr Gregory stopped his Ford Focus but as he got out of it the driver of the van switched off his lights, did a 180 degree turn and drove off.
Cambridgeshire police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or saw where the van may have gone after the collision to contact them.
Mr Gregory had been at his new-born baby Iiev’s christening in Cambridge and was returning home to Sawston when the incident happened.
He said: “The van was driving really close to me. When we entered the 30mph limit in Cambridge Road, about 100 yards from the police station, it went into the back of my car. Although we were not seriously injured we both ended up in A&E due to whiplash injuries and our car is rather damaged if not written off. And I ended up missing most of my own sons christening party.
“The driver of the vehicle obviously has no care for anyone else on the road and I would not want anyone else to go through this.”
The van has been described as a silver transit, with a 56 plate, medium wheelbase, with a low-roof height and would have visible damage to the front following the crash.
A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Police said: “We would appeal to anyone who saw the incident, or where the other vehicle went following the collision, to call police on 101.”
