THE death of a man whose body was found in the River Cam is not being treated as suspicious by Cambridgeshire Police.
Officers were alerted at 8.30am on Sunday after a rower spotted the body, believed to be of a man in his 30s, near the Fort St George pub on Midsummer Common.
Cambridgeshire Police were at the scene for several hours with nearby areas cordoned off.
The police have since passed the details to the coroner and an inquest is expected to open shortly.
Meanwhile a simple shrine made up of a candle and photograph has been placed by the River Cam at the spot where the man’s body was found.
