CAMBRIDGE has notched up its second snow-clearing quad bike for the winter.
First Capital Connect, who look after Cambridge Station, has announced they will be using a quad-bike to clear snow from the stations forecourts and car parks.
The announcement comes a week after Cambridge Country Council unveiled its own snow-plouging quad bike.
First Capital Connect claim to be the first train operators in Britain to use such a specialised vehicle which can clear the station of snow in 15 minutes.
The operator said the bikes would be available to every station under their control.
Keith Jipps, head of customer services, said: “The Met Office is predicting this winter will be colder than last year and we at FCC are determined to be as well prepared as possible.
“The quad bike snow ploughs are a fantastic innovation and will be very useful in helping our customers to reach our stations and their destinations safely during times of snow disruption.”
The Met Office is predicting temperatures as low as -4C tonight.
