A FIRE investigation will begin today to find what caused a blaze in the first floor bedroom of a terraced house on Mill Road, Cambridge, last night.

Four crews of firefighters managed to stop the flames which had got into the roof space from spreading to adjoining homes.

The firefighters - two crews from Cambridge, one crew from Swaffham, one crew from Burwell and a turntable ladder from Cambridge - were called to the house on fire at 7.25pm.

Martin Brown, station manager at Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “The fire had spread to the roof space and was threatening to spread to the adjoining homes.

“Crews worked hard to tackle the fire. They also used water from the turntable ladder and managed to prevent the fire from spreading.”

It is understood that students renting the property were inside when the fire started but got out of the property uninjured.
