An inquest has been opened into the death of Marek Bogdan Zajechowski whose body was found in the River Cam, in Cambridge.
A post-mortem examination has revealed the 37 year old died as a result of drowning.
Mr Zajechowski was found dead in the river near the Fort St George Public House, Midsummer Common, Cambridge on Sunday (29 January).
Officers were alerted to the incident at 8.30am after a rower spotted the body.
Earlier this week Cambridgeshire police said the death was not being treated as suspicious.
A simple shrine made up of a candle and photograph has been placed by the River Cam at the spot where the body was found.
