POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 43-year-old man was assaulted in an unprovoked Cambridge city centre attack.
The victim was walking along Regent Street at about 12.30am on Sunday (January 22) when he was confronted by a man who assaulted him.
The victim was knocked out by the attack and by the time he regained consciousness the offender had gone.
He suffered a broken nose and was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital for treatment.
The offender is described as white, in his mid-20s, 5’9’’ and of a small build with close-cropped brown hair.
He was wearing a cream top.
Detective Constable Nicola Lamport, investigating, said: “This was a nasty, unprovoked attack and I would urge anyone with any information to call police.
“The area was very busy at the time the assault took place and I would like to speak to anyone who saw what happened.”
Anyone with any information should call DC Lamport on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
