Dietmar Leitner has been appointed managing director of Napp Pharmaceuticals – part of the Napp Pharmaceutical Group, based at the Cambridge Science Park.
He has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for the last 16 years – as division manager at Abbott Laboratories before becoming general manager at Mundipharma Gesellschaft in Austria in 2006.
He succeeds Antony Mattessich, who left Napp in May 2011 to become regional director Europe at Mundipharma International.
The Napp Group, which is privately owned, has a 30-year heritage in the field of pain control and growing expertise in oncology and respiratory medicine.
“I am delighted to be joining Napp at a time of great change for the pharmaceutical industry and our healthcare customers,” said Mr Leitner.
“There are significant challenges to be faced but also opportunities for us to work together for the benefit of patients, and I am looking forward to working with my colleagues here to continue our success.
“Napp has significant expertise in analgesics, an expanding oncology portfolio and a very promising respiratory franchise. This, alongside our very collaborative approach to business, will, I believe, be a significant strength in the emerging healthcare environment.”
