Members of the Cambridge Cleantech network – which supports the growth of environmental goods and service in the city – will hear more about the mission at a meeting in March.

Delegates will be addressed by Nicholas Brooke, chairman of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks.

He said: “The determination of the Chinese Government to address the challenges of the environment and sustainability affords significant business opportunities for companies in the cleantech field.

“In addition, Hong Kong itself has seven million people, large infrastructure projects and important priorities with regard to energy efficiency, waste handling etc, offers great business potential for UK companies.”

Hugh Parnell, chairman of Cambridge Cleantech, said: “We have had contact from a number of cleantech businesses from the developing economies and with European markets currently faltering, there is a tremendous opportunity for business growth in countries such as China.

“As one of the fastest-growing markets globally, China needs a range of technology driven products and services to both power its growth and to ensure that this growth is more environmentally sustainable”

The Cambridge event is being held on 1 March from 6pm to 8pm at City House, Hills Road. For more details visit www.cambridge
