University technology investor Imperial Innovations is launching its first office in the Cambridge area today.
It plans to open on the Babraham Research Campus in April – having already invested in start-up Mission Therapeutics on the campus.
Innovations creates, builds and invests in pioneering university technologies addressing global problems in healthcare, energy, engineering and the environment.
It invests in companies associated with the UK’s four leading universities by research income – Cambridge University, Oxford University, University College London and Imperial College London.
“Collaborating locally with Cambridge Enterprise, we like to get involved early and work with management and scientists to build a company,” said chief executive Susan Searle.
“We have already made two investments so far in Cambridge – behind Professor Steve Jackson and the Mission Therapeutics team, and also in Cambridge Communication Systems – and look forward to many more.”
